Violence Against Women And Girls Advisory Group

Written and sent on behalf of Daniel Goodman, Community Cohesion Officer, Humberside Police:

Humberside Police have started a Violence Against Women And Girls Advisory Group, and we are trying to contact as many establishments, agencies, charities, communities, individuals and groups as possible to see if they want to attend. The group is going live on the 2nd December with its first meeting at the MKM Stadium in Hull (HU3 6HU) at 1830 hours.

As you are fully aware a key part of our work is to protect and keep individuals in our community safe from harm.  One of the areas we have really focussed on is our work with Women and Girls particularly after the tragic case of Sarah Everard, and it’s really important that we jointly get this right and work as closely as we can with each other. A key part of this work is having the ability to seek open and honest feedback from those communities who want to see positive change, help identify safe spaces, better education and importantly make our local communities a safer place.  To achieve this we need an effective partnership approach, so Assistant Chief Constable Darren Downs has commissioned the Community Safety Unity to draw both our partners and local communities together, the intention is that we will form a partnership Independent Advisory group (IAG) which we believe may be a first in the country with a particular focus on Women and Girls.

As such, should you be interested in joining, or if you know of anyone you feel would be a worthy addition to this very relevant group (this could be service users, family members, friends, colleagues, community) and be willing to work with us and our partner agencies to see positive change within this arena, please let me know either by replying direct to me yourself, forwarding their details to me or encourage them to get in touch with me.

Kind regards

Dan Goodman
