#TalkSuicide Campaign – Business approach

From Humber, Coast and Vale Health and Care Partnership:

My name is Jack and I work for Humber, Coast and Vale Health and Care Partnership – specifically on their #TalkSuicide campaign.

For those that don’t know, the #TalkSuicide campaign encourages people and businesses across the HCV area to complete free suicide prevention training online at www.talksuicide.co.uk – the training teaches you how to SPOT the signs when someone may be feeling suicidal, how to SPEAK to them openly about suicide and how to SIGNPOST them to the correct services and support. The training takes 20 minutes and really does teach life-saving skills.

We have now began the next phase of the campaign which is focused more around businesses offering this free training to their staff – whether that be sending a link out in a staff bulletin, including it on their weekly newsletter or holding a virtual / face to face (when allowed) training session with support from us. We have developed some free business resource packs which include a range of things to help promote suicide prevention, and the free training. The pack includes posters, leaflets, table talkers, z cards, drinks coasters as well as badges (once completed). These are available free from our business page at www.talksuicide.co.uk/employers

I was wondering if you worked with any businesses in your local area who you think may be up for rolling the training out to their staff. As you know, the last few months have been difficult for everyone, but particularly businesses – that’s why we want to support businesses to roll out this crucial training, in order to prevent suicides happening in our areas. Businesses can be of any size in any industry. I would also love to hear of any ideas you have of ways we can engage with local businesses.

If you could let me know that would be great, I look forward to hearing from you.
