Sport England: The Movement Fund

Sport England has revamped its funding application process to make it simpler for sports clubs and organisations promoting physical activity to apply for funding.

The new Movement Fund, launched on April 29th, aims to allocate funds efficiently to those with the greatest need.

With a budget of £160 million over four years, the fund replaces previous grant programs and offers crowdfunding pledges, grants, and resources to address disparities in physical activity access.

Projects meeting the fund’s criteria and objectives may receive between £300 to £15,000, supporting positive changes in communities. The fund encourages applications targeting activity gaps among various demographics.

Additionally, Sport England introduces the Movement Hub pilot to improve access to tools and resources.

Eligibility criteria include being a non-profit organization working with people in England.

Sport England emphasises four key ambitions for successful applications:

  • positive sport experiences,
  • community involvement,
  • environmental sustainability, and
  • efficient use of public funds
