Shaping Our Lives is taking on a new shape with the help of a four year grant from the National Lottery Community Fund. They have a mission to advance the inclusive involvement of d/Deaf and Disabled people, service users, carers and other people who experience inequalities or barriers when accessing services.
Shaping Our Lives want to provide people with support and information to ensure your voices are meaningfully and equally represented when service providers are making decisions about how their services should be run.
The people who use services should be asked about their experiences in order to improve these services. This is usually called consultation, engagement, involvement, or co-production. The organisations involved might be a health or social care provider, a regulator, a research body or educational establishment.
Research shows that often the experiences of people from diverse communities are not heard in these involvement activities because the way they are done does not allow everyone to take part equally.
They really want to hear what you think would help you to take part and influence services to work better for you and other people in similar situations.
