This is an opportune moment to promote an extensive array of Creative Programming that is happening across this weekend as part of Grimsby Creates’ ‘Our Future Starts Here’ event brought to you by The Culture House: Our Future Starts Here – Creativity & Innovation In Grimsby
To kick things off, prior to the launch on Friday 27 May, there is an Art in Public Space panel event: booking and details can be found here: Our Future Starts Here presents Culture Cafe – Art in Public Space Tickets, Fri 27 May 2022 at 16:00 | Eventbrite.
Then there is a jam-packed schedule of activities across the weekend in Grimsby (see attached). It promises to be a spectacular programme.
As an aside, Barmpot Theatre are delivering a trainee scheme during May half term (details below) (don’t worry about the deadline date as we have only just received this message to pass on):
We’ve been funded by the Lincolnshire Wolds Countryside Service to deliver a trainee scheme this May half-term. We’re looking for an emerging artist who’s starting a career in theatre to join us for 6 days on our new production ‘To The Moon And Back’, paid at the Real Living Wage.
The position is open to anyone aged 18+ (no upper age limit) who lives in, or within 5 miles, of the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Our trainee can be interested in any disciplines related to theatre, whether that’s performance, technical, stage management, design, producing, or wants to try out a mix of roles. We’ll tailor the scheme to the trainee. Our most important aim is to offer a professional theatre credit to a local person who is starting out in the industry, in their locale.
The scheme will consist of the trainee joining us at rehearsals, a minimum of 3 of our event days in East Lindsey, and a day where the trainee can work more closely alongside a theatre professional in their favourite discipline. Our event days take place on/in the following dates/locations:
– Spilsby Monday 30th May 2022
– Alford Tuesday 31st May 2022
– Horncastle Thursday 2nd June 2022
– Wainfleet Friday 3rd June 2022
– Louth Saturday 4th June 2022
For anyone who would like to apply for the role: please send a message to introduce yourself and let us know you’re interested by Monday 23rd May at midnight. You can contact myself (Jane) via email – jane@barmpottheatre.com, DM us on social media (we’re on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter @BarmpotTheatre), or text/Whatsapp/send a voice note to 07857145034. If you’re really keen to apply but think you fall slightly short of any of the criteria for the role, please still get in touch. Once we have received your message of interest, we’ll arrange a time to chat on the phone and then will pick our final trainee from there.
