New Fund to Boost Local Growth and Energy Security

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero has announced a new £10 million fund to support local communities across England in setting up local energy projects.

Both urban and rural communities will be able to apply for the Community Energy Fund to help develop local renewable energy projects. The Community Energy Fund will open to applications in the early Autumn.

This funding will aim to help kickstart projects proposed, designed and owned by local people including:

  • small-scale wind farms and rooftop solar partnerships
  • battery storage
  • rural heat networks
  • electric vehicle charging points
  • fuel poverty alleviation schemes
