Neglect Strategic Delivery Group: Briefing on Strategy

Forwarded

Identifying and responding to neglect is a key priority for all within North East Lincolnshire.  From national research, as well as local evidence, shows the far- ranging disruption and harm neglect causes to children. The strategy aims to improve multi agency early identification and response to neglect in North East Lincolnshire, prevent escalation of neglect cases and overall reduction in chronic neglect in the borough.

With many thanks to the input received from key partner agencies, the Neglect Strategy has been successfully published on SaferNEL (SaferNEL | Neglect – SaferNEL)

The group is now in the process of working up the supporting launch alongside developing training and toolkits to support this. They are working alongside Jane Wiffin who is concluding a thematic review of neglect in our area and importantly, currently one of the leading experts in neglect.

The neglect strategy will link in and work alongside the current Early Help strategy to ensure consistency in all our work with children, families, and other agencies.

Neglect remains prevalent across NEL and we need to ensure we all work together to respond at the earliest opportunity to support children and families.
