LGA launches Energy Procurement Category Strategy 2022

The Local Government Association (LGA) has launched an updated Energy Procurement Category Strategy. Publication of the strategy is timely – as the government outlined its Energy Bill Relief Scheme for businesses and non-domestic customers this week, which includes councils and schools.

The LGA, with the help of The Association for Decentralised Energy (ADE), has developed a strategy to help councils optimise the way they manage and procure energy, with a focus on:

  • reducing energy consumption
  • using energy efficiently
  • looking at new ways councils can act to increase energy security

Rising energy costs will impact a wide range of contracts and projects and is therefore also relevant to energy and estate managers and sustainability teams – please pass this on to those colleagues where appropriate.
