Get the Jump: ‘Skills for Life’ campaign toolkit

From Education and Skills Funding Agency:

The ‘Get the Jump’ Skills for Life campaign brings together, for the first time, all education and training choices for young people in one place.

For anyone, taking a next step in life can feel daunting. But for a 14–19-year-old young person, making a decision today that could affect the rest of their life can be overwhelming and daunting.

With either too much or not enough information about their choices, young people can struggle to move forward confidently, either taking a ‘safe’ route or settling for a path they perhaps wouldn’t have, had they known the full range of pathways open to them.

This campaign brings together information about all the choices that are available to young people at post-16 and post-18 to help them make an informed decision about their next step and choose the path that is right for them.

Our aim is for every young person to understand what their education and training choices are and to help them get the best start to their working lives.

The campaign covers all education and training options but will specifically spotlight technical education routes, which have lower levels of awareness:

  • T Levels
  • Traineeships
  • Apprenticeships
  • Higher Technical Qualifications

A ‘Get the Jump’ Skills for Life content hub has been created on the National Career Service website (gov.uk/get-the-jump) which contains clear and helpful information about all post-16 and post-18 choices.
