Local people with an interest in representing their community and making a difference to their area are being encouraged to find out more about becoming a Councillor.
Elected Councillors are a vital part of local democracy. They make a difference to their area in lots of ways, helping to solve problems with local residents, coordinating community action and voting on policy. They also get the opportunity to regularly scrutinise proposals.
The Local Government Association are to host a webinar in June for anyone wishing to find out more about becoming a Councillor.
The online session will be held from 10am to 11:30am on Tuesday 7 June and will feature an experienced panel of Councillor speakers sharing their journeys in local government and offering practical advice for those considering getting involved in local democracy.
The session will also cover what Councils and Councillors do, and will explore the steps involved in becoming a Councillor and what support is available.
