North East Lincolnshire Community Asset Transfer workshop series

April 29 @ 6:00 PM - May 13 @ 8:00 PM

Interested in managing a North East Lincolnshire Community Asset or do you already manage a community asset building or site?

If so you may want to attend one or all of the following workshops.

North East Lincolnshire Community Asset Transfer workshop series

The North East Lincolnshire Council Community Asset Transfer Approach has been refreshed with support from Locality in 2021. There is now significantly more information available which can be read in stages and will be available on https://www.nelincs.gov.uk/homes-and-property/empty-properties-and-derelict-land/surplus-land-and-buildings/

There will be 3 interactive, online sessions which will cover the wide range of issues you will need to consider if you are interested in a Community Asset Transfer of a building or land from NEL Council.

Session 1 – Community Asset Transfer new process (passed event – a link to a recording of the event can be found here)

What will this session cover?

  • The Community Asset Transfer (CAT) process in North East Lincolnshire, including Approach and Processes
  • An introduction to the Community Asset Transfer Panel
  • Registering a building or land as an Asset of Community Value – what does this mean and how you can do this

This session is open to Community organisations/groups, Council staff, Councillors and partners as well as groups interested in CAT.

Date: Thurs 29th April 2021

Time: 6:00pm – 8:00pm

There are several steps you will need to go through as part of Community Asset Transfer negotiation including writing a business case.  Claire Etheridge, Delivery Manager, from Sector Support North East Lincolnshire Partnership will talk you through the stages and demystify the processes.

You will also hear about the resources available to complete these tasks.

A member of the NELC CAT panel will also be available to share their views on business case needs.

Date: Weds 5th May 2021

Time: 6:00pm – 8:00pm

Place: Virtual event via Teams

To Book: Amy@nbforum.org.uk / Mobile: 07572 896859

Session 3 – Asset Management

The hard work really starts once you are successful with a Community Asset Transfer.  There will be challenges around fund raising, design and construction, maintenance, legal requirements, policies and procedures.  This session will alert you to these and share experiences from established groups who have already taken on a Community Asset.

Date: Thurs 13th May 2021

Time: 6:00pm – 8:00pm

Place: Virtual event via Teams

To Book: Amy@nbforum.org.uk / Mobile: 07572 896859

Prefer a one to one appointment?

If you don’t think your questions or concerns will be covered in any of the above sessions, or they raise more questions for you, book a one to one appointment with Mick McGrath from Locality.

Appointments will be available mid-April to the end of May so you can talk through any issues.   There may also be the possibility to include some time limited access to legal advice.  Email amy@nbforum.org.uk / Call Amy: 07572 896859 to be referred to Mick.
