- Session 1 – Neurodiversity and Intersectionality – This session will identify the links between neurodiversity and safeguarding, and those identified in Safeguarding Adult Reviews, in particular Learning Disabilities, and links to themes and community groups such as Self Neglect, Self-Harm, Homelessness and Hoarders, training and awareness.
- Session 2 – Carers – This session will look at carers’ roles and responsibilities, the general lack of recognition of unpaid carers, the support available for them, the capacity they have to deliver the care required, and how we record their concerns and issues they identify, and give them a voice.
- Session 3 – Mental Capacity – This session will be a general discussion on how to implement and assess capacity and not the optimistic view of a presumption of capacity that is often taken, along with how we can increase training and awareness.
- Session 4 – Professional Curiosity – This session will look at how we increase questioning around the individuals who are having multiple visits, avoid silo working and obtain a more holistic view of the person and their lived experience.
Attendees will be seated at group tables. Each session will consist of 20 minutes from a speaker(s) followed by a workshop in the tables about your thoughts, ideas and suggestions, which will be summarized by a speaker for each table.
The wrap-up at the end will capture the learning from the day and summarize any commitments for the Safeguarding Adults Board going forwards.
You may attend the full day, part of the day or any of the sessions at the time stipulated. Lunch will be provided.
