Don’t choose to look the other way: Understanding modern day slavery and councils’ role in tackling it

July 14 @ 3:15 PM - 5:00 PM

Modern day slavery is a heinous crime which impacts on all of our communities, and councils have a key part to play in trying to eradicate it. This session is aimed at local councillors but will also be open to anyone looking for an introduction to the issue and councils’ role in tackling it.

The webinar will highlight the role councils have in disrupting local slavery, identifying and supporting victims, and ensuring their supply chains are free from slavery. Alongside providing an opportunity to hear about leading anti-slavery practice in councils and from the Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner Dame Sara Thornton DBE QPM, the session will also consider the steps that individual councillors can take to help address this issue.
