In December 2020, a number of voluntary and community sector organisations very kindly completed a Sector Support survey regarding digital capacity and capability. The results identified issues and gaps in online services, support and IT equipment for some voluntary and community sector organisations and/or their service users.
Following the survey and other digital work across North East Lincolnshire, three workstreams have been established to explore how gaps in digital capacity and capability can be addressed:
Digital Society – working alongside local voluntary and community organisations
Digital Economy – working alongside local businesses and schools
Digital Health – working alongside partners that support the health of our local communities
These workstreams strongly interlink and their main aim is to establish ‘what needs to be done’ to increase digital take up of services and provide locally assisted digital support to those who genuinely need it.
For the first phase of this work, the Digital Society workstream has been allocated approximately £30,000 of grant funding. This can be used by voluntary and community sector organisations to help fund gaps or extend existing digital provision, provided that there are no on-going costs for the local authority. Ideally, the funding should build on existing digital provision, expand work to other areas of the community and be sustainable going forward. The fund needs to be spent by no later than 31 March 2022. Details of the fund and how it can be applied for will be sent to you in early August, with a decision on allocating it being made on 14th September 2021.
In the meantime, can you help us? We need as many voluntary and community sector organisations as possible to complete the following survey to help us understand the current position with regard to digital provision in North East Lincolnshire and to help us to identify any gaps. The deadline for completing the survey is Monday, 16th August 2021. Survey Link – https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/TBSZCHV
Finally, as a result of this survey Sector Support or NE Lincolnshire Council may want to get back in touch with you. If this is okay please provide us with your organisations name and contact details. You can read SSNEL’s Privacy notice here and NE Lincs Council’s Privacy Notice here.
