Community groups worth billions to Yorkshire and Humber economy, research finds

Charities and community groups in the north of England could be worth as much as £6bn to the regional economy, researchers have found.

The research report, The Structure, Dynamics and Impact of the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise Sector, was published earlier this month and looks at the value of civil society in West Yorkshire and Harrogate, and the Humber, Coast and Vale area.

The work of these groups helps relieve pressure on the NHS and other local services, campaigners said.
