COSARAF Charitable Foundation: Hardship Grant

The Foundation administers a small grants and donations programme to individuals and families in financial need. Applications can only be made by recognised social organisations such as charities, housing associations, schools and social services acting on behalf of a family or individual in need.

Grants of up to £2,000 are available for eligible individuals and families. 

They will fund:

  • Household items (white goods and occasionally other items i.e. sofas, wardrobes etc.)
  • Basic Living Expenses (Utilities or food)
  • Work- or education-related expenses (interview clothes, school uniforms, laptops)
  • Rent arrears and Council tax arrears, but only where there is a clear and obvious risk of homelessness (for rent arrears involving a social landlord please outline what support has already been offered to your tenant)
  • Contribution to immigration-related costs, where the current immigration status directly causes financial hardship to the applicant

Community Shares Boost Programme

The deadlines for applications are 27th November for equity applications and 29th January 2025 for development grant applications. 

The objective of this funding is to assist community businesses in England, whether they are in the initial or established stages of a community share issue.

The Community Shares Booster Fund is offered through the collaboration of Power to Change and Architectural Heritage Fund, in conjunction with Coops UK, Locality, Plunkett Foundation, and Co-operative and Community Finance.

The following support available:

  • Pre-grant support: A few days support for early-stage activity to get started. 
  • Development grants: of between £2,000 and £10,000, averaging around £5,000, to prepare a community share offer. This support can cover financial planning, governance support, marketing costs and being assessed for the Community Shares Standard Mark. 
  • Equity match investment: ranging from £10,000 to £100,000, although the typical investment is expected to be £20,000 to £50,000. This is an offer of investment to match money raised from the community, providing the minimum share offer target is achieved. Applications for equity match are open to community businesses that are investment ready, including those that have already launched their share offers. 
  • Subscription underwriting: If affordability is an issue for community investors, Co-operative and Community Finance (CCF) can offer an interest-free repayable loan to enable people to buy shares through instalments over a maximum of 12 months, with the society receiving the full investment upfront. 
  • Loan finance: may be available from Co-operative and Community Finance (CCF).

Paul Hamlyn Foundation: Teacher Development Fund

The Teacher Development Fund aims to support delivery of effective arts-based teaching and learning opportunities in the primary classroom and to embed learning through the arts in the activities.

Applicants can apply for up to £165,000.

  • Focusing on pupils who experience systemic inequity and enabling them to access and make progress in their learning.
  • Supporting arts organisations and schools working in equal partnerships to exchange and enrich their expertise.
  • Recognising teachers are critical to pupils’ outcomes.
  • Creating high-quality inspiring professional learning for teachers.
  • Enabling teachers and artist practitioners to learn and work together in the classroom.
  • Building a body of evidence and practice and understanding how the work improves equity for pupils.
  • Generating sustainable changes in teaching and learning in schools for the long-term.

Cash4Clubs

Deadline 12th November 2024

Cash4Club are offering grants of up to £2,000 for 6 months.

The 2024 programme is exclusively focused on supporting adult clubs who deliver activities to over 18s only, with an emphasis on 18–25 year olds. The funding will be unrestricted but with an outcome of increasing participation, meaning clubs are able to decide how best to use the grant to engage more adults from their local communities.

Arts Council Creative People and Places

Deadline 16th January 2025

The Creative People and Places Initiative 2026-2029 focuses on parts of the country where involvement in creativity and culture is significantly below the national average. It funds partners in local areas to empower residents to decide what kind of creative activity they want to experience on their doorstep.

Applicants can apply for between £750,000 – £1,000,000. A lead applicant must apply on behalf of a partnership of organisations which must include representatives from community and cultural organisations.

Asda Foundation: Cost of Living Grant

Deadline: 8th November 2024

This grant aims to help local community groups with the increase in their running costs.  Grants of £400 to £2,000 are available to fund their three priority themes:

  • Food and other essentials costs
  • Rent and utility costs
  • Volunteer-related costs – (enabling Volunteers to continue supporting their groups and communities)

The Triangle Trust

Closing date for applications: 30th October 2024

The Triangle Trust 1949 Fund is excited to announce its 2024 funding opportunity, focusing on supporting initiatives for young women and girls.

This funding is available to organisations led by and for women and girls.  The Trust seeks to fund projects addressing young women and girls already involved in, or vulnerable to the criminal justice system, aiming to reduce reoffending behaviours or prevent first convictions.

Projects can target individuals aged 11 to 30, with a particular interest in those with care experience or from Black or minoritised communities.

Grants range from £10,000 to £80,000 for 12 to 24 months, with a maximum request of £40,000 per year.

UnLtd: Awards for Social Entrepreneurs

Available grants: offer up to £18,000.

UnLtd will fund and support social entrepreneurs who have an idea or are already making a difference and are looking for support to develop their social venture.  UnLtd will help to get you started or grow, depending on your stage of development.   

As an Award Winner you will have access to the advice, guidance and expertise needed to build on the foundations of your social venture and grow your impact. Grant offer is up to £18,000.

Stages of Development:

  • Up to £8,000 funding for start-up ventures is intended to cover essential start-up costs (not including wages).
  • Up to£18,000 funding for scaling up ventures is intended to support wages and living costs as the venture grows.

The Happiness Fund

The Happiness Fund offers support for grassroots, community-based projects that enhance mental health, wellbeing, inclusion, learning, and skill development within local communities.  The fund will award £5,000 twice a year.

The Embedding Prevention of Veteran Suicide Programme 2024/25

Grants Available: Up to £50k and £100k for Eligible Projects
