Buddies scheme – North East Lincolnshire

Sent on behalf of North East Lincolnshire Council:

Have you ever had one person in your life who listened to you and made you feel valued?

Could YOU be that person for a child in the care of the Local Authority?

We are keen to recruit both male and female Buddies of various ages and backgrounds who would be able to commit to volunteering for at least 18 months, spending quality time with a young person each month for around 4 hours?  You don’t need any special qualifications, but having a caring nature, patience, determination to make a difference, a non-judgmental attitude and a good sense of humour are essential.

In return for the time and care they give Buddies are trained and supported through regular contact with a co-ordinator and will be invited to network meetings to meet with other buddies at least twice per year.

Need to hear more? These two videos really tell the story of how much the Buddies programme means to those involved;
